Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter. I would like to upgrade the Intel GMA 950 graphics card of my old Macbook 2.1 (Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz - 64Mo VRAM - Snow Leopard). I bought a 24' 1920x1080 iiyama screen, the ProLite E2409HDS-B1 and can't get higher res than 1600x900. This may not correspond well to your exact hardware, but I recently used Etcher to create a bootable Ubuntu 18.04 and 16.04 USB installation media, and was able to install Ubuntu (either flavor) onto a SATA SSD installed in a 2009 Mac Pro (that was updated to 2010 firmware so it reports MacPro5,1). Everything installed fine but for some reason when I check the Device Manager it is showing that there is no driver for a Video Controller (VGA Compatible). Now I know the GMA 950 is an Intel Product (duh obviously) so then that should mean that there is an appropriate driver out there for it am I wrong? Nuvoton cir device driver for mac.

Are you still using the intel gma 950(or anything like it ) in 2016 and sad that your gpu can't even support Opengl 2.1 . Well it's no longer a problem.Just download Lubuntu right now, grab these from here https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/ubuntu/graphics-drivers (including wine) and have fun! I wasn't able to run Shovel Knight till now and it works perfectly(except the menu).I'm running Lubuntu on a 512mb ram laptop and a intel core m cpu 1.7ghz(quite old-2007).Now it's especially the best time to move.Wine which is a program to play windows games and use apps is getting better and better and it has been in developement for a long time and it's pretty DAMN good right now.Youtube also works way better and i can finally watch videos on pornhub with no slowdowns and freezes. Also just think about all those indie game you couldn't run because your gpu only supported up to 1.4.
